Remi’s PhD
The aim of this PhD is to create games that promote a range of physical activity. To do this, Remi is using a participatory approach and has already completed a pilot study with young adolescents from Year 7 (11-12 year olds) at a secondary school in Sheffield. This initial study consisted of an eight week process using design tools such as cultural probes and personas, as well as elements of fun including countdown, dice… to explore what attracts and engages young adolescents to play games and do physical activity. The pilot study ended with an exhibition day in order to gather feedback on the ideas generated by both the participants and Remi.
Remi is now reflecting on the outputs from this first case study and getting ready to move to the next phase of his study.
