Mark Fisher
Mark graduated from the BA Product Design course at Sheffield Hallam University in 2007 after completing his major project SureTest – a compact blood glucose testing device for diabetics.
During the final year of his degree Mark’s submission for the Lighting Association Student Lighting Design Awards was shortlisted for the finals and he was subsequently offered a position at London based lighting design consultancy Isometrix. Having gained some valuable industry experience, Mark decided to pursue his interest in medical product development and following a successful bid for an AHRC studentship, returned to Sheffield in 2010 to start an MA in Industrial Design. Continuing the theme of his BA diabetes project, Mark’s MA focused on exploring and overcoming the barriers faced by sufferers of long-term chronic illness through the design of products and associated services. The catalyst for development was be the voice of the individual and as such his project was officially adopted by UCHD. After graduating with a Distinction in June 2012 Mark worked full-time within UCHD and Lab4Living as a Design Researcher.
In July 2013 Mark took up the opportunity to move to London and take up a postion as Product & Service Designer at Age UK & Brunel University.
