South CHI 2013 28/08/2013
In early July Helena presented at the South CHI 2013 International Conference on Human Factors in Computing and Informatics in Maribor, Slovenia. SouthCHI, is a new conference which has emerged from the successful USAB Conference series first held at Vienna University of Technology in 2005. Whereas the USAB series looked at particular subject areas, for example: Information Quality in e-Health in 2011, the SouthCHI conferences will promote all aspects of human-computer interaction. Launched in 2013 this will be a biannual event with participants mainly coming from Southern Europe.
Helena’s paper, ‘Older People as Equal Partners in Creative Design’ was part of a special session on Design Culture for Ageing Well: Designing for ‘Situated Elderliness’. The paper demonstrates the importance of older people’s engagement in the creative design process focusing on a small study where older people were engaged with designers in the design of digital devices.
