Brendan McCormack Action Research Masterclass 16/08/2012
On Thursday 26 July, UCHD in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Yorkshire and Humber Research Society were very pleased to welcome Professor Brendan McCormack to the Robert Winston building at Sheffield Hallam University’s Collegiate Crescent campus where he conducted a Masterclass in Action Research. The event was attended by more than 65 people from across Yorkshire and the Humber.
Brendan is Professor of Nursing Research, Director of the Institute of Nursing and Health Research and Head of the ‘Person-centred Practice Research Centre’ in the Institute of Nursing and Health Research, University of Ulster.
The event started with a lecture: Action research: Philosophy, Methodology and Methods in Evolution, which outlined what action research is and how it fits into a wider research context. The lecture slides can be viewed here and you can watch the whole presentation in the video below:

This was followed by group work focussing on the participants’ own projects with plenary feedback and discussion. The afternoon closed with questions and discussion from the whole group. A video of the discussion can be seen below:
